Cuban Sandwich Hot Dogs

While visiting my parents in Florida, I decided to take advantage of some authentic Cuban bread and create a mashup of two classics — the Cuban sandwich and the hot dog. These Cuban Sandwich Hot Dogs are loaded with smoky hot dogs, savory roasted pork, melty Swiss cheese, and tangy pickles, all smashed together on Cuban bread for the perfect crispy bite.

Ingredients:

  • 2 foot-long hot dogs, cut in half
  • 1 loaf Cuban bread, split lengthwise
  • 2–3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 4–6 dill pickle slices
  • 1 cup cooked roasted pork, warmed
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Hot Dogs – Preheat your Blackstone griddle to low heat. Place hot dogs cut side down and cook until lightly browned and heated through. Remove from griddle.
  2. Prepare the Bread – Slice Cuban bread in half lengthwise. Spread yellow mustard on the top half and layer with dill pickles.
  3. Assemble the Bottom Layer – Place the cooked hot dogs evenly across the bottom half of the bread.
  4. Heat the Pork & Cheese – On the griddle, heat the roasted pork until warmed through. Divide into two portions and top each with Swiss cheese, allowing it to melt.
  5. Build the Sandwich – Return the bottom bread with hot dogs to the griddle. Top with the pork and melted cheese, then place the top half of bread (mustard/pickle side down) on top.
  6. Press & Toast – Flip the sandwich and press with a burger smasher or heavy spatula until the bread is golden and crispy.
  7. Serve – Remove from the griddle, slice on a bias, and enjoy hot.
